Cal Poly's Lisa Modglin and UC Santa Barbara's Jennifer Davis capped big performances last week for their clubs by being named Big West Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.

Modglin Picks Up Fourth Weekly Honor of 2007

Cal Poly outfielder Lisa Modglin (Simi Valley, Calif./Simi Valley HS) claimed her fourth Big West Player of the Week award of the season after leading the Mustangs to a series win over Cal State Northridge.

The senior reached base in all 14 of her plate appearances thanks to three hits, 10 walks and one hit by pitch. In the opener, Modglin recorded two of her hits, walked three times and scored twice to lead Cal Poly to the 10-8 win.

Over the next two games, she recorded just one official at-bat but she certainly made it count. Modglin smacked her conference-best 16th homer of the season, a rocket off the Matador Diamond scoreboard, in game two. She also walked three times in that game and stole a base.

In the finale, Modglin walked a season-high four times and was hit by a pitch, but came around to score twice.

Also Nominated: Jaclyn Rymer, Cal State Northridge; Jessica Beaver, Long Beach State; Tisha Duran, UC Santa Barbara; Lizzie Hagen, Pacific

Davis Dominates Competition in Big Week for UC Santa Barbara

UC Santa Barbara pitcher Jennifer Davis (Whittier, Calif./California HS) mowed down opposing batters left and right on the way to a 3-0 week for the Gauchos.

The senior started her week off with an eight-inning masterpiece in a win over #24 Fresno State. She allowed just two hits and a walk while striking out a season high 14.

With that start setting the tone, Davis picked up two wins in the three game set against UC Davis over the weekend. In her first start, she went six innings in the mercy rule shortened affair, allowing just four hits, one run, and a walk while striking out 10. In her final start of the week, she put up 10 innings of work, allowing four hits, no runs and a walk while fanning 7 more Aggies.

For the week, Davis posted a 0.29 ERA in 24.0 innings, allowed 10 hits, one run, three walks and struck out 31.
