Cal Poly junior Dreshawn Vance (Walnut, CA/Portland) was selected Big West Men's Basketball Player of the Week after coming off the bench to play an instrumental role in a pair of road victories.
Vance, a 6-8 forward, shot 76.9% (10-for-13) for the two games as the Mustangs defeated UC Riverside (70-54) and Cal State Fullerton (90-80). He averaged 11.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.
Against the Highlanders, Vance notched 10 points, eight rebounds and two blocked shots in just 19 minutes of action. He made 5 of 8 shots from the field. Vance played 20 minutes two days later against the Titans, producing 12 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Vance also was a perfect 5 of 5 from the floor.
His performance helped the Mustangs increase their win streak to five straight overall. Vance follows Dawin Whiten (Feb. 12) and Derek Stockalper (Feb. 19) as Mustang players to win the award consecutively.
