UC Riverside's Calienes Earns First Career Honor
UC Riverside freshman Jon Calienes (Chino, CA) earned Big West Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week honors for February 12-18 after going 1-1 in singles and 2-0 in doubles.

With regular partner Contreras out sick, Calienes teamed with Joe Cartledge for the first time at No. 1 doubles to defeat Pacific's Moritz Starke and Vladimir Zdravkovic, 8-6. Calienes then moved up one spot to No. 2 singles and won a 6-2, 7-6 match against Vegerd Veskimagi. His play helped the Highlanders beat the 75th-ranked Tigers for the first time in school history.
Calienes is now 11-7 overall in singles and 11-6 in doubles play this season.
