A total of 121 student-athletes from nine member institutions were honored on the 2007 Big West Conference Fall All-Academic Team today, covering the sports of women's volleyball, men's and women's soccer, and men's and women's cross country. To be eligible for the All-Academic team, student-athletes have to maintain a 3.2 cumulative grade point average, complete one full academic year at the member institution prior to the season for which the award is being received (at least a sophomore academically), and compete in at least 50 percent of their team's contests.
Women's soccer led all sports with 37 student-athletes and women's cross country had 35 recognized. Twenty-one women's volleyball student-athletes earned all-academic honors. Men's cross country and men's soccer each had 14 all-academic honorees.
UC Irvine topped all Big West institutions with 20 Fall All-Academic selections, followed by Cal State Fullerton with 17. UC Davis, in its first year as a Big West member, had 17 honorees, while UC Riverside had 15. Long Beach State had 12 honorees, while Pacific and Cal State Northridge had 11 apiece. Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara tallied nine each.
