UC Santa Barbara senior guard Alex Harris (Alameda, Calif./Notre Dame St. Joseph’s HS) earned Big West Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors for the second time this season, showing his three-point shooting prowess in a 2-0 week for the Gauchos.

Harris made 10 of his 13 three-point attempts for the week as the Gauchos cruised to home victories over Pepperdine (68-57) and Utah Valley State (81-61).  The wins boosted UCSB's record to 9-1, which is the school's best start since the 1988-89 season.

Against the Waves, Harris scored 22 points on 9 of 14 shooting, including 4 of 5 from three-point range.  He made back-to-back three-point baskets to break open a close game in the first half.  Harris added three rebounds and two steals in 30 minutes of action.

Harris came back to record 25 points on 6 of 8 three-point shooting in the win over the Wolverines.  The six three-point baskets set a career-high and accounted for the most by a UCSB player since the 2001-02 season.  Harris keyed an 8-0 rally that ended the first half on a three-pointer.

His 47 points moved him from 12th to 8th on the school's all-time scoring list.  In addition, Harris garnered the Player of the Week honor for the fourth time in his career, tying him with Raymond Tutt and Lucius Davis for the most in Gaucho history.

Others nominated: Donovan Morris, Long Beach State; Vince Oliver, UC Davis; Patrick Sanders, UC Irvine; Larry Cunningham, UC Riverside
