Cal Poly forward David Zamora (San Jose, Costa Rica/Saint Paul HS) was the driving force in two big Mustang wins last week, netting him Big West Player of the Week accolades.
The freshman striker began his week with a clutch performance against UC Irvine. Zamora scored two goals 58 seconds apart in the 83rd and 84th minute to turn a 2-1 deficit into an eventual 3-2 Cal Poly win. He then capped off his week with the eventual game-winning goal in the Mustangs' 3-0 win over UC Davis.
Zamora's heroics extended Cal Poly’s unbeaten string to seven and put the Mustangs in a tie for first place in the standings with defending conference and national champion, #10 UC Santa Barbara.
