UC Santa Barbara's Harris Collects Second Player of the Week Honor

UC Santa Barbara junior Alex Harris (Alameda, CA/Notre Dame St. Joseph's HS) landed Big West Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors for the second time this season after leading the Gauchos to a 2-0 conference start.

The 6-6 guard averaged 24.0 points and 7.5 rebounds while shooting 48.4 percent (15-of-31) from the field in home wins over UC Riverside (73-65) and Cal State Fullerton (84-76). He made 5 of 11 shots (45.5%) from three-point land and 13 of 19 (68.4%) at the free throw line.

Harris scored a career-high 32 points against UC Riverside, marking the ninth time this season that he had scored 20 or more points in a game. He shot a Big West single-game high 16 free throw attempts, knocking down 12 while adding six rebounds versus the Highlanders.

Against the Titans, Harris contributed 16 points and a season-high nine rebounds. He hit 7-of-14 field goal attempts and helped lock down Fullerton's leading scorer, Bobby Brown, holding him to just 10 points on 4-of-17 shooting overall and 2-of-12 from three-point territory. UCSB snapped Fullerton's five-game winning streak and improved to 10-3 overall.
