UC Riverside freshman forward Heidi Garrett (Riverside, CA/Martin Luther King HS) scored the game-winning goal in road wins over No. 22 Fresno State and San Jose State to earn the nod as Big West Women's Soccer Player of the Week.

The goals were extra special for Garrett as they marked the first two of her collegiate career. She also assisted on UCR's opening goal in the 2-1 win over San Jose State, giving her two goals and one assist for five points for the week. Garrett was involved in all three of the goals the Highlanders scored over the two matches.

In Friday's 1-0 upset versus the Bulldogs, Garrett posted her first career goal 28 seconds into the second overtime. Her initial shot was blocked by the Fresno State defense, but she collected the rebound and blasted a follow up from 20 yards out for the score.

Garrett scored in much the same fashion against San Jose State. The Spartan goalkeeper saved her first strike, but Garrett pounced on the rebound and scored at the 49:24 mark. The win marked the Highlanders' seventh in the last eight outings.
