Cal State Fullerton's Jordan Horn and Long Beach State's Meredith Kramon were named Big West Men's and Women's Athlete of the Week, respectively, after solid performances against top-flight competition at the Aztec Invitational last week.

Horn, a senior from Alta Loma, CA, finished second at the prestigious event with a time of 25:44 on the 8K course. His time was more than 30 seconds better than any other Big West competitor.

Kramon, a senior from Larkspur, CA, finished eighth overall after completing the 5K course in 18:01. Her time led LBSU to a second place finish behind eighth-ranked Arkansas and was the fastest time recorded by a 49er runner in the 5K race at the Balboa Park Course in school history.

Light Week of Competition on the Horizon

Cal State Northridge and UC Santa Barbara are the lone squads competing in a light week of Big West cross country action.

The Matadors head to Malibu to compete in the Pepperdine Invitational. They’ll be competing against Cal State Los Angeles, Pepperdine, Soka University and USC. The men will run an 8K race while CSUN’s women’s contingent will compete in a 6K meet for the first time this season.

UCSB will head east to St. Paul, MN for the 21st Annual Roy Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota. They will compete against a slew of talented squads including the Golden Gophers, Arizona, Arizona State and Marquette. The men’s competition will be an 8K, while the women’s race will be a 6K.
