Cal Poly's Kylie Atherstone Nabs First Big West Volleyball Player Of The Week Honor For 2006 Season

Kylie Atherstone not only earned UNLV Tournament Most Valuable Player, but grabbed the first Big West volleyball weekly honor for the new year. The outside middle blocker guided the Cal Poly Mustangs to a 3-0 start for the first time since the 2001 season, after hitting .322 for the tournament.

Hailing from Chico, Calif., she averaged 4.71 kills per game and 1.71 digs per game. She also contributed with 15 total blocks (1.07 BPG) and eight aces (.57 APG). In the young season, Atherstone currently leads the league in kills with a total of 66.

The Mustangs return to the court this weekend when they travel to Malibu, Calif., for the Pepperdine Tournament where they will face Long Island, Texas and host Pepperdine.
