Pacific senior utility player Kristen Allen (Citrus Heights, CA/Casa Roble HS) captured Big West Softball Player of the Week honors as her performance at the plate led the Tigers to a 4-1 record at the prestigious Palm Springs Classic.

Allen hit .462 (6-for-13) with three runs scored and eight RBI to help the Tigers finish in a tie for fourth at the tournament. She had a double and two home runs as she slugged 1.000 for the week.

Her best effort occurred on day two of the tournament when she connected for homers against Long Island and No. 10 Oklahoma. She hit a two-run blast against LIU, then knocked in three runs versus the Sooners, including a seventh inning solo shot. Allen also went 2-for-3 with two RBI in a 4-2 win over Illinois-Chicago and had the game-winning RBI in Pacific's 4-1 upset win over No. 18 Baylor on day one of action.

Cal State Northridge freshman Selena Salazar (San Fernando, CA/San Fernando HS) helped her team to a 4-0 week by earning two wins and a save in the circle, earning Big West Pitcher of the Week honors.

The right-hander posted a 0.42 ERA and struck out 20 in 16.2 innings of work. She allowed just one earned run and six hits in lowering her earned run average from 8.33 to 4.67. She limited the opponents to just a .105 batting average.

Salazar picked up the win in game one of a pair of doubleheaders, going the distance in both outings. She allowed just two hits and an unearned run in CSUN's 7-1 victory over Southern Utah on Thursday. Salazar struck out a career-high eight batters. On Friday, she three-hit Nevada in a 2-1 triumph. Salazar gave up her only earned run of the week, walking three and fanning seven.

She closed out the week by coming on in relief in game two of the doubleheader with the Wolf Pack. She whiffed five batters in 2.2 innings to pick up the save in a Matador 6-1 victory.
