Pacific senior Mike Webb (Lancaster, CA/Antelope Valley College) collected Big West Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors as he bombarded Cal State Northridge with a total of 13 three-pointers in back-to-back wins over the Matadors.
The 6-1 guard knocked down a career-high eight three-pointers in Wednesday's 79-51 win in Stockton. He played 26 minutes, leaving the game for good with a thigh contusion in the second half. The eight three-pointers missed the Pacific single-game record by just one, while his 24 points established a career-high. Webb was 8-of-13 from three-point range in the game.
The scene shifted to Northridge for a Saturday afternoon rematch, and Webb once again took advantage from the perimeter. He made 5 of his 7 three-point attempts, and 7 of his 9 floor shots overall, en route to a career second-best effort of 23 points in 37 minutes of action. Webb hit all four of his free throw tries and added a pair of steals in the 70-66 victory.
For the week, he averaged 23.5 points and 2.5 assists per game while shooting an outstanding 65.2 percent (15 of 23) from the field and 65.0 percent (13 of 20) from three-point range.
