Long Beach State senior Shawn Hawkins (Pittsburgh, PA/Columbus State) nabbed his first career Big West Men's Basketball Player of the Week award after leading the 49ers to a 2-0 week and setting a single-game scoring career-high in one of the wins.

The 6-6 forward averaged 20.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game as the 49ers defeated Cal State Fullerton (88-79) at home and Manhattan College (108-94) on the road. Hawkins shot a sizzling 63.6 (14-of-22) percent from the floor and was a perfect 10-of-10 at the free throw line.

Hawkins made 7 of 10 field goal attempts, including a pair of three-pointers en route to a 16-point effort against Cal State Fullerton. He added five rebounds and three assists.

The team's trek to the East Coast was a successful one as the 49ers posted a season-high in points with the 108 they dropped on the Jaspers. Hawkins played a significant role with a career-high 25 points in the contest, aided by a 10-for-10 performance at the charity stripe. He also hit 7 of 12 shots from the field while adding seven rebounds and a steal to his line.
