Guiding Pacific to a 1-1 record last week with two career-high performances earned freshman Emma Head Big West Women's Basketball Player of the Week, for the week ending Dec. 7. Head becomes the first freshman to receive such accolades this year, while giving Pacific its third recognition. This is the first time since the 2002-03 season that the Tigers have earned multiple nods.
In the 74-67 loss at Santa Clara, Head drained 10 points off the bench to post a new career-high. Three nights later the San Diego, Calif., native shattered her career-high for the second time in one week with 17 points. The 6-2 forward posted an impressive 70% (7-of10) from the field. Her efforts guided Pacific to the only Big West win of the week with a 62-55 victory over Sacramento State.
For the week she posted a 66.7% shooting clip, sank 7-of-8 from the free throw line and pulled down an average of six boards per game.
The Tigers (5-6) return to the Alex G. Spanos Center, where they are 3-1 this season, to host Lafayette on Friday, Dec. 22 at 7:00 p.m.
