Breanna Trudeau's back-to-back season-best performances, which guided Cal State Fullerton to its first win over UC Santa Barbara in 25 years, earned the Titan starter Big West Volleyball Player of the Week, for the week ending Nov. 5. This is the second honor of the year for Cal State Fullerton with Brittany Moore receiving such accolades the second week of the season.
In the 3-1 loss to No. 19 Cal Poly, the 5-11 outside hitter notched a career-high 23 kills, while adding nine digs and three blocks. For the evening she posted a .216 hitting percentage, while averaging 6.4 points per game.
The following night she recorded 18 kills in the Titans' first-ever victory over the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos. The Valencia, Calif., native also reached the 20-dig plateau for the first time when she scooped 22 Gaucho attacks, earning her third double-double of the season. In the Titan-Gaucho showdown she tied a career-high with three services aces.
For the week, she averaged 4.56 kills per game and posted a .198 hitting percentage. Trudeau, the first senior to earn the weekly honor this season, also recorded a pace of 3.44 digs per game.
Cal State Fullerton hits the road for its final four matches of the season. This week the Titans travel to UC Irvine (11/10) and Long Beach State (11/11). Both contests are slated for 7:00 p.m.
