In Long Beach State's Baden Thanksgiving Tournament, junior Alexis Crimes averaged 5.11 kills and 2.11 blocks per game to help the 49ers post a 3-0 record, earning her Big West Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week honors for the second straight week. This marks Crimes' fourth weekly honor of the season, a mark that hasn’t been met since 2003 when UC Irvine’s Kelly Wing nabbed four awards.

In LBSU's first match against Virginia Commonwealth, the 6-3 middle blocker fired a .440 hitting percentage and collected six blocks. Crimes followed that match up with a .720 clip against tournament-bound Albany, committing just one error while adding four block assists. In the 49ers’ final contest against Western Michigan, the Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., native continued to lead the team with a .391 hitting percentage and nine total blocks (2 solo, 7 assists).

Long Beach State (25-5/12-2) extends its 2006 season this week when they host the first and second rounds of the NCAA Women's Volleyball Tournament. The 49ers face nationally-ranked Pepperdine Friday night in the first round with the winner taking on the winner of the Hawaii-Oregon showdown Saturday at 7:00 p.m. This year's bid to the NCAA Tournament marks LBSU's 20th consecutive trip, 21st overall.
