UC Santa Barbara junior Chris Devine (Eagle River, AK/Chugiak HS) garnered his first career Big West Men's Basketball Player of the Week honor as he shot nearly 70 percent from the field in road victories over Montana State and UNLV.

A 6-8 forward, Devine averaged 18.5 points and 5.5 rebounds to help the Gauchos start out a season 3-0 for the first time since 1994-95. Devine made 16 of his 23 shots from the field for 69.6 percent while also hitting four of his six free throw attempts.

In the 88-56 win versus the Bobcats, Devine scored eight of UCSB's first 10 points, propelling the Gauchos to an early 19-1 lead. Although he fouled out in just 19 minutes, he still finished with 12 points on 6 of 8 shooting to go along with five rebounds.

Against the Rebels on Friday, Devine tied his career high with 25 points, including 16 in the second half. He made 10 of 15 from the field, and also hit his first three-pointer of the year in the 79-76 victory. Devine added six rebounds and one blocked shot in 36 minutes of action as the Gauchos recorded their first win in Las Vegas since January of 1988.
