Cal Poly junior Tyler McGinn (Gilbert, AZ/Mesquite HS) earned Big West Men's Basketball Player of the Week after putting forth a career-high effort in several offensive categories in a home win over Cal State Northridge.
The 6-6 forward averaged 20.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game while shooting 53.9 percent (14 of 26) from the field and 52.9 percent (9 of 17) from three-point range. He also sank all four of his free throw attempts.
McGinn set or tied career highs in four categories in the 73-54 win over the Matadors on Saturday. He had career-highs for points (28), field goals made (10) and three-point field goals made (6). He tied his career high with seven rebounds as well.
In a 64-62 loss to Pacific on Thursday, McGinn played a solid game with 13 points, two rebounds, a block and a steal. He went 3 of 6 from three-point range against the Tigers.
