Junior Allie Kueny (Brea, CA/Brea Olinda HS) grabbed Big West Women's Soccer Player of the Week recognition as she had a game-winning assist and game-winning goal in UC Santa Barbara's run to the Maryland/Adidas Classic championship.
Kueny, a 5-6 forward, was named the tournament's Offensive MVP as the Gauchos toppled Rutgers and Villanova. In the 2-0 win over the Scarlet Knights, Kueny assisted on the first goal while also taking three of UCSB's 11 shots on the afternoon.
In Sunday's finale, Kueny scored her first goal of the season at the 24:22 mark to put UCSB up 1-0 on Villanova. She led the Gauchos with four shots, including three on goal. Her game-winning goal against the Wildcats also happened to be the first UCSB goal scored by a non-freshman this season.
UC Santa Barbara posted the two wins after being shutout in the previous three games.
