UC Irvine's Anna Bentzer and Brian Morton claimed Big West Conference Women's and Men's Player of the Week honors for the week of Feb. 28-March 6, the league office announced today. Bentzer and Morton both earn Player of the Week kudos for the second time this season.

Bentzer (Stockholm, Sweden) earns the women's nod after defeating two ranked opponents in singles action. The senior No. 1 Anteaters singles player posted wins over No. 85-ranked Nicole Bouffler of Long Beach State, and No. 81 Julia Koulbitskaya of Penn. Bentzer also led the Anteaters to doubles victories over Long Beach State's Bouffler and Sandra Rocha (9-7), and over Penn's Koulbitskaya and Shelah Chao (8-6). For the season, Bentzer is a perfect 5-0 versus Big West opponents.

On the men's side, Morton (Costa Mesa, Calif./Corona del Mar HS), a senior, helped the Anteaters to a 7-0 win over Big West rival Cal Poly, by earning victories in the singles and doubles play. Morton defeated Cal Poly's Matt Baca, and pitched in with a doubles victory over the Mustang's Travis Crawford and David Jones (8-2). Morton owns a 2-0 record against Big West opponents.
