Munoz And Marzan Earn Player And Pitcher of the Week Honors For Cal State Fullerton

Cal State Fullerton’s Kiki Munoz and Marissa Marzan earned Big West Conference Player and Pitcher of the week honors for the week of March 1-7, the league office announced today.

Munoz (Orange, CA/Modena HS), a freshman outfielder, led the Titans with a .500 batting average, five hits, a home run, and two RBI in the Worth Invitational, as Cal State Fullerton picked up a pair of wins over Bowling Green and Illinois State. Munoz also slugged .900 and enjoyed an on base percentage of .500, while playing perfect defense by recording 14 putouts without an error.

Marzan (Fresno, CA/Bullard HS), a junior righty, recorded her first collegiate shutout in a 4-0 Titan victory over Bowling Green. Marzan scattered three hits and struck out five in 7.0 innings of work, while allowing just one walk. The Fresno, Calif. native held the Falcons to just a .125 batting average in the game, and escaped a bases-loaded jam in the second inning after her only walk of the game and two errors, but recorded a strikeout and a pair of groundouts to escape the threat. She went on to retire 18 of the final 21 batters.
