Threepeat: Pacific's Anunciation Honored For Clutch Play

Pacific senior Michelle Anunciation (Chino Hills, CA/Diamond Bar HS) became the first player in conference history to earn the Big West Player of the Week award in softball three consecutive times, and one of the primary reasons for that recognition is her ability to produce in key situations. The shortstop did it again in a 5-3 victory over UC Davis on Saturday, collecting her third game-winning RBI of the season.

Anunciation stepped up to the plate with two runners on base, two outs and the Tigers trailing 3-2 in the sixth inning. She belted a three-run home run over the right field wall to give the Tigers the 5-3 win. That hit continued a trend for Anunciation, as she has tallied all 10 of her RBI this season in two-out situations. She is hitting .458 (11-for-24) overall and .500 (5-for-10) with two outs.

She finished 1-for-4 with a run scored and three RBI for the game. Anunciation has one game-tying RBI in addition to her three game-winning RBI in Pacific's six wins this season.

UCSB's Davis Bears Down In Rain-Shortened Tournament

UC Santa Barbara sophomore Jennifer Davis (Whittier, CA/California HS) took full advantage of her only crack against competition last weekend as the Commercial Capital Invitational was reduced to just two games due to relentless heavy rains. The right-hander earned Big West Pitcher of the Week after tossing a five-hit shutout against Southwest Missouri State.

Davis powered her way to the complete game 3-0 blanking with a dominating 11-strikeout performance against the Bears. She walked just three. Davis moved into eighth place on UCSB's career top 10 chart with 253 strikeouts and tied for seventh for career shutouts with nine.

She worked her way out of trouble twice in the last two innings, wiggling out of a bases loaded quandary with one out in the sixth inning and again in the seventh after yielding a leadoff walk and a single.
