UC Irvine’s Hamilton Named Men’s Soccer Player of the Week

UC Irvine junior Anthony Hamilton (Grand Terrace, Calif. /Colton HS) earned Big West Men’s Soccer Player of the Week honors for his efforts last week, which propelled him to the top of the conference's stat chart in goals and points.

A forward for the Anteaters, Hamilton scored three goals in UCI’s 4-3 victory over Cal State Fullerton. It marked the second straight game the junior recorded a hat trick, and only eight known players in NCAA history have earned that distinction. Hamilton also became the first Big West player to accomplish this feat. All three goals came in just over 11 minutes with the Anteaters trailing CSF 2-0. His goal scoring time marked the 10th fastest three consecutive goals scored by a single player in NCAA history.

Hamilton was also responsible for the game-winning assist as UCI put away the Titans. His three goals matched the single-game UCI record and he also tied the UCI single-game points record with seven. In UCI’s 2-1 loss to UC Davis, Hamilton scored the Anteaters’ lone goal.

This is Hamilton’s second week in a row to earn player of the week honors.
