Junior Brad Evans (Phoenix, Ariz./Mountain Pointe HS) and sophomore Tyler Rosenlund (Port Coquitlam, BC/Riverside Secondary) were named Big West Conference Co-Players of the Week for their performances in the final week of conference action.

Evans earned the award after his two-goal performance in UCI’s 2-1 win against No. 11 Cal State Northridge. The junior ended the Matadors' streak of five straight shutouts in the fifth minute as he knocked in a blast from 25 yards out. Evans scored again in the 32nd minute on a header in the box off a cross from his teammate, Scott Shiraishi. The forward was also named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week. This is Evans’ second National Team of the Week honor, as he was first recognized on Oct. 4, 2004. This is also his second Big West Player of the Week honor this season.

Rosenlund received the honor for scoring the game-winner and adding an assist in the Gauchos’ contest with UCI Saturday. The midfielder netted his second game-winning goal of the season and fourth overall when he chipped the ball over the Anteater goalkeeper in the 47th minute to put UCSB on top for good 1-0. Later in the contest, Rosenlund helped put the game out of reach for UCI, when he sent a curling cross to a charging Jonathan Davis on the backpost, who knocked down the pass and scored in the 87th minute for the final 2-0 score. This is Rosenlund’s first career Player of the Week award.
