Cal Poly’s Mora, Cal State Northridge’s Camy & UC Irvine’s Steen Honored

Cal Poly’s Jameson Mora (Canyon Country, Calif.), Cal State Northridge’s Liz Camy (Chico, Calif.) and UC Irvine’s Amber Steen (Newport Beach, Calif.) were named the Big West Cross Country Athletes of the Week after all three finished in the top 15 of their respective meets.

Mora grabbed the men’s award after finishing second overall at the UC Riverside Invitational. The junior ran the 8K course in 24:38 to lead the Mustangs to a first place team finish. With nine of the top 15 runners in the race hailing from Big West schools, he was the top finisher among that group.

Camy and Steen were selected Women’s Co-Athletes of the Week.

Camy, a senior, ran a season-best 17:51.70 to earn her a fourth place showing at the UC Riverside Invitational. Camy was the highest Big West finisher at the meet and helped the Matadors come in 10th place as a team.

A transfer from Arizona, Steen came in 13th place out of 138 runners in the 31st annual Charles Bowles Invitational, hosted by Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. Steen posted a time of 17:36.90 over the 5,000 meter course and the former local standout from Newport Harbor High School led the Anteaters to a fourth place team finish.
