Junior Brad Evans (Phoenix, AZ/Mountain Pointe HS) played a key role in two UC Irvine victories to collect Big West Men’s Soccer Player of the Week honors. His efforts kept the Anteaters undefeated in league play and their 3-0-0 Big West start is the program’s best ever.
The Anteaters posted a pair of road victories over Cal Poly on Wednesday and Cal State Fullerton on Sunday. Evans accounted for the game-winning goal against the Mustangs on a header in the 27th minute, his only shot of the match that gave UCI a 2-0 lead. The Anteaters went on to win 2-1.
Against the Titans, he had the game-winning assist as UCI struck early for a goal in the 12th minute in an eventual 4-0 shutout. Evans peppered the CSF defense with seven shots, six of which were on goal.
Evans moved into 10th place all-time at UCI with 38 points and ninth on the school’s career list with 16 goals. His five game-winning goals are tied for fifth all-time.
