Pacific's Maraker Earns Two Honors In One Day

Pacific junior Christian Maraker (Varberg, Sweden/Vastergardskolan School) earned Big West Men's Basketball Player of the Week recognition after a trio of key performances led his team to home victories over UC Riverside, Cal State Fullerton and Cal Poly. He also earned a spot on the 12-member CollegeInsider.com Mid-Season Mid-Major All-America Team.

Maraker, a 6-9 forward, averaged 16.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and 0.7 blocks per game as the Tigers jumped out to a 3-0 start in Big West play. He hit 54.8 (17-of-31) percent of his floor shots and 81.3 (13-of-16) percent from the free throw line.

In the conference opener versus UC Riverside on Tuesday, Maraker posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds in 29 minutes of a 58-45 victory. He drained a pair of three-pointers and added a block in the Highlander game. Maraker's best outing of the week came in Thursday's contest with Cal State Fullerton. He scored a career high-tying 26 points on 10-of-14 shooting in a high-scoring 94-88 affair. He added seven rebounds and a steal in his 34 minutes of action against the Titans. On Sunday, Maraker played sparingly in Pacific's 83-62 win over Cal Poly, finishing with 12 points, five rebounds, two assists and a block in 21 minutes. He made 2-of-3 three-point attempts.
