UC Riverside midfielder Scott Barnett (Newbury Park, CA/Loyola College) received Big West Men's Soccer Player of the Week honors after leading the Highlanders to a 2-1 win over Cal State Fullerton on Friday.
Barnett opened the scoring in the season and conference opener for both teams with a 10-yard strike at the 36:21 mark. He posted his second goal of the match at the 59:30 mark, heading in a short cross from Juan Gutierrez. Barnett had six shots in the game. The game also doubled as part of the Cal State Fullerton Soccer Town Classic.
In a 1-0 loss to No. 7 UCLA on Sunday, Barnett did not attempt a shot as the Highlanders were held to only four shots on the day.
