Long Beach State junior Meredith Cervenka (La Crescenta, CA/Crescenta Valley HS) earned Big West Pitcher of the Week honors after notching a win and a save in a series sweep over Cal State Northridge that clinched the conference title for the 49ers.

Cervenka threw 10.0 innings on the week, allowing seven hits and one run while striking out 12. She went the distance in game one of the series, yielding five hits and one run with nine strikeouts in a 2-1 victory. Cervenka returned in game three to pitch three innings of shutout relief and earn the save in a 3-2 win. She allowed two hits and struck out three in that stint.

She improved her record to 19-5 and reduced her ERA to 1.16 for the year. She ranks first in the Big West in wins and second in ERA.
