Cal State Northridge’s Bedwell, Pacific’s Curtier Share Weekly Honor

Cal State Northridge senior Christen Bedwell (Auburn, CA/Del Oro HS) and Pacific freshman Jennifer Curtier (Lancaster, CA/Quartz Hills HS) were named Big West Co-Players of the Week after strong performances in the opening weekend of conference play.

Curtier helped the Tigers to a 4-1 week, including a sweep of Big West foe Cal Poly. She batted .375 (6-for-16) with three runs scored and five RBI, adding a pair of doubles and a home run. She drove in the game-winning run with a double in a 3-2 victory on Sunday, finishing the day 2-for-3. She went 1-for-3 with an RBI in each of the first two games of the Mustang series. Against Santa Clara, she hit her sixth homer of the year and was 2-for-4 with two RBI in game one of a twinbill.

Bedwell was nearly perfect at the plate despite her team struggling to a 1-2 week. The outfielder hit .778 (7-for-9) with a double, home run and three RBI against UC Santa Barbara. She had multiple hits in all three games. In a 10-3 win over the Gauchos in game one of a doubleheader, Bedwell went 2-for-3 with two RBI, including her seventh homer of the season. She went 5-for-6 in the last two games. Bedwell was 2-for-3 with an RBI and two hit-by-pitches in a 4-1, 10-inning loss.
