Cal Poly’s Enzweiler, Cal State Fullerton’s Brown Record Stellar Performances

Cal Poly’s Nick Enzweiler (Moraga, CA/UTEP) and Cal State Fullerton’s Bobby Brown (Los Angeles, CA/Westchester HS) turned in magnificent individual performances to help their respective teams post a solid win over a formidable non-conference opponent and the two players earned a share of Big West Player of the Week honors.

Enzweiler, a 6-6 forward, hit a career-high six three-pointers and scored a career-high 22 points in Cal Poly’s 98-89 win over Santa Clara on Sunday. He made three consecutive treys to spark a 17-7 run that gave the Mustangs an 11-point first half lead. The senior also grabbed a season-high seven rebounds and added four assists in his 23 minutes off the bench. Enzweiler was a perfect 6-of-6 from the field and 4-of-4 from the charity stripe. The win, Cal Poly’s first on the season, came against an opponent that had earlier notched victories over North Carolina and Stanford.

Brown, a 6-1 point guard, recorded a career-high 30 points in Cal State Fullerton’s 70-68 overtime road win on Friday versus Eastern Washington. The Eagles are the defending Big Sky champions and preseason favorite to win the league again this year. Brown drained 11-of-20 shots, five from three-point territory, and added six rebounds. His only assist of the game came on the game-winning basket as with eight seconds remaining in overtime, he penetrated right and dished to Jermaine Harper, who drilled a three-pointer from the left side with four seconds to play.
