Idaho's Hammond Leads Charge In Upset Of UCSB

Idaho middle blocker Anna-Marie Hammond (Long Beach, CA/St. Joseph HS) is the Big West Player of the Week for her performances in victories over UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly.

Hammond, a 6-2 senior, was a dominating offensive and defensive force as the Vandals defeated then-No. 19 UC Santa Barbara for the first time in 14 tries. She tallied 18 kills and a .421 (18-2-38) hitting percentage in the four-game victory. Hammond added a career-high eight digs and eight blocks to her totals.

Against Cal Poly, Hammond posted 16 kills, five digs and eight blocks as the Vandals won in four games. She hit .277 (16-3-47) for the match.

Her 34 kills on the week moved her into fifth place on the Idaho career kills list.

For the week, Hammond averaged 4.25 kills, 1.62 digs and 2.00 blocks per game while hitting at a .341 (34-5-85) clip.
