Spyros Chakas was an offensive force for Hawai’i in a pair of victorious efforts over No. 5 Stanford to claim a season’s first Big West Offensive Player of the Week award. Chakas was thrice tapped for weekly honors last season.

Chakas recorded 38 total kills, or 5.43 per set, while hitting .550 in UH's two-match series sweep of Stanford. The senior also tallied two aces, 11 digs (1.57 avg.), and three blocks against the Cardinal.

The native of Nea Smyrni, Greece, posted 15 kills, eight digs, and two blocks in the series opening four-set victory for the third-ranked UH squad.

In the rematch, Chakas pounded a season-high 23 kills, with only one error in 30 attempts (.733 hitting %). The outside hitter has reached double-figures in kills in 8-of-9 matches played this season, including six straight.

Chakas is currently third nationally for kills per set (4.29) and hitting percentage (.426) while ranking fifth in points per set (4.90) on the season.
