  • Long Beach State libero Mason Briggs helped the top-ranked Beach to a split with defending national champion and No. 4 UCLA to earn Big West Defensive Player of the Week honors. The award recognition is the second of the season and the sixth of Briggs’ career.  

  • The product of Valencia, Calif., recorded a total of 27 digs in the pair of matches, averaging 3.38 digs per set.  

  • Briggs logged 11 digs in a 3-1 win on Friday night, while adding four assists and totaling 34 receptions against only one error in the 3-1 decision in front of the sellout crowd of 4,303 fans at Walter Pyramid.  

  • Saturday at UCLA, Briggs registered a season-high 16 digs, while adding two assists and 33 receptions with just two reception errors in the four-set setback. 

  • Briggs is currently leading The Big West and ranks eighth in the country in digs per set, sporting a 2.37 average.
