UC Irvine guard Déja Lee led the Anteaters to a fourth-straight 2-0 start in Big West play to claim a first-career weekly honor to open up 2024. Lee is the first UCI player to receive recognition this season.

The junior averaged a team-best 17.5 points per game on 54 percent shooting in victorious efforts over UC Riverside at Cal State Bakersfield. The Anteaters were up by just three at the half of both games before Lee’s offensive outburst sparked a 15-point win at UCR and a 23-point win against the Roadrunners.

In Thursday’s game against the Highlanders, Lee scored 13 points, all of which came in the second half including nine in the fourth quarter alone. Lee added five rebounds and three assists in the road win.

Saturday, Lee put up 17 (6-of-9 FG) of a game-high 22 in the final 20 minutes of a 71-48 victory over the Roadrunners. The Surrey, B.C, Canada, native had a personal 8-0 run in the third period to give UCI a 10-point lead and another 7-0 run in the fourth to make it 67-45 with just under four minutes to go. It was Lee’s third 20-point effort of the season.

Lee and UC Irvine hit the road for the second week of league action, taking on Cal State Fullerton and UC Davis. Saturday’s contest against the Aggies is set to air on Spectrum SportsNet at 3 p.m. as part of a Big West doubleheader. All Big West in-conference games can also be seen on ESPN+.
