Averaging 15.0 points and 4.0 assists per game in a two-win week, UC Santa Barbara’s Alyssa Marin has picked up Big West Player of the Week acclaim. This is a first career weekly honor for the senior from Camarillo, Calif.

In limited time on the court against UC Santa Cruz, Marin scored eight points while adding four assists to her stat line in just 13 minutes of play as the Gauchos cruised to the 87-46 win.

The guard went on to have a career day in a 73-66 overtime victory at Nevada. Playing 39 of 45 total minutes, Marin registered 22 points including a 4-for-8 day from three-point range. The points tally is a new career-high and Marin’s first 20-point game as a collegian.

Marin is now one of three Gauchos averaging double-digit scoring on the season (10.14 ppg). The 4.4 assists per game and 1.94 assist-to-turnover ratio mark is currently good for third and fourth in The Big West, respectively.
