Amber Igiede finished the regular season with a flourish for Hawai’i to take home the final Big West Offensive Player of the Week award for 2023, the fifth of the season for the senior and eighth-career offensive honor.

The Rainbow Wahine swept through UC San Diego and downed Long Beach State in four behind Igiede’s 5.00 kills per set on .459 hitting and six blocks on the week.

Against the Tritons, the Baton Rouge, La., native hit .500 with 14 kills on 24 attacks with two errors. Igiede also dealt a team-leading 23rd ace of the season in the match.

On UH’s Senior Night on Saturday, Igiede carried the team to victory after a rough start to the match. Trailing by 10 at 18-8 in the first frame, Igiede powered down a season-high 21 kills on .432 hitting with 37 swings in the match. Igiede was in on a team-high four blocks with three digs and the Rainbow Wahine climbed to the No. 2 seed in The Big West Championship bracket with the pair of victorious efforts.
