  • Long Beach State setter Zayna Meyer piloted the Beach to a pair of sweeps last week over UC Irvine and Cal State Fullerton to claim a third Big West Setter of the Week award in 2023, and a seventh career honor.  

  • The redshirt sophomore setter averaged 10.83 assists per set as LBSU hit .358 as a team over the two matches. Meyer contributed on all sides of the ball, also posting averages of 2.83 digs and 1.33 kills per set, while hitting .353 (8-2-17).  

  • Meyer started the week with 35 assists, nine digs, three kills, and two aces as LBSU hit .345 in a road sweep at UC Irvine on Thursday.  

  • Then against the Titans on Saturday, Meyer tallied 30 assists, eight digs, five kills on .444 hitting, and two blocks as the Beach downed Cal State Fullerton in straight sets while registering a team hitting percentage of .372. 

  • Meyer is currently second in The Big West in assists per set with 10.10, one of two players in the conference with a double-digit assist average.
