After pacing the Tritons to a trio of wins, UC San Diego’s Ava McInnes picked up TSU/Belmont Invitational Most Valuable Player en route to Big West Offensive Player of the Week honors. The award is a second career nod, also earning distinction on Oct. 17, 2022.

McInnes averaged 4.92 kills and 5.63 points per set through 12 sets played as UCSD defeated Tennessee State, Jackson State and Belmont to run their non-conference record to 8-4.

In Thursday’s four-set victory at Tennessee State, McInnes recorded a season-high 24 kills on .354 hitting and 27.5 points to go along with 11 digs for the double-double.

The junior outside hitter tallied team bests in kills (13) and blocks (5) in the sweep of Jackson State and kills (22) in the five-setter against Belmont.

The Tustin, Calif, native currently leads The Big West in kills per set (4.08) and is now 21 away from the 1,000 career-kill mark as the team heads into conference play this Friday.
