  • Jolei Akima continues to lockdown the backrow defensively for Cal Poly, earning a first-career Big West Defensive Player of the Week honor for the efforts.  

  • The redshirt junior was named to the Dukes Invitational All-Tournament Team after averaging 5.00 digs per set and posting at least 19 digs in all three matches over the weekend.  

  • Akima opened the tournament with 21 digs, nine assists and two aces in a four-set loss to New Hampshire. The native of Kalahu’u, Hawai’i, capped the event with a 20-dig effort in the five-set victory against VCU. Akima has now posted 20-plus digs in six matches this season. 

  • The libero currently ranks 28th in NCAA Division I averaging 4.97 digs per set, good for second in The Big West.
