  • UC San Diego freshman Brandon Larson collected 10 RBI and scored five runs scored to help lead the Tritons to a sweep at Cal Poly and earn a first career Big West Field Player of the Week nod. Larson is the second UCSD slugger to earn an award this year, Michael Fuhrman in earning distinction (March 20).

  • Larson knocked a home run in each of the Tritons’ four games for the week, including a 3-2 loss at USC on Tuesday. Larson recorded a 1.125 slugging percentage, going 6-for-16 with three walks and a .474 on-base percentage.

  • The Tritons’ designated hitter drove in three runs in each of UC San Diego’s three games against the Mustangs to secure the series sweep. Larson blasted the go-ahead home runs in both Saturday and Sunday’s victories at Cal Poly.

  • Larson’s 10 runs batted in moved him into a tie for second place in The Big West with 42 RBI on the season.

  • Teaming up with southpaw Izaak Martinez this week, this marks the first time in program history a pair of UC San Diego baseball players has swept the pair of Big West weekly awards. The Tritons began their reclassification period to Division I and joined the league in July 2020.
