• Cal State Fullerton ace Myka Sutherlin twirled a no-hitter among three starts in a come-from-behind series victory at home over CSUN for a league-leading third Big West Pitcher of the Week nod.

• Sutherlin (11-7) went 2-1 for the set, with the five-inning no-hitter in Saturday’s finale (8-0) going down as the 58th in program history and second of the fifth-year senior right-hander’s college career. Sutherlin issued a lone walk (full count) to lead off the fifth and break up the perfect game, facing one batter over the minimum. Among nine strikeouts in the contest, Sutherlin fanned CSUN in order in the first.

• Sutherlin had already tossed 4.2 frames of shutout softball (2 H, BB) with seven strikeouts to begin the Saturday doubleheader as the Titans took a 7-1 decision.

• A second-year transfer from Pacific, Sutherlin totaled 14.0 innings pitched against the Matadors, allowing four runs, all in Friday’s 5-2 loss, on eight hits and three walks, while striking out 20. Saturday’s final effort also was a ninth complete game and fifth shutout for 2023.

• Sutherlin’s prior awards this season came on Feb. 13 and Feb. 27. The native of Gilbert, Ariz., is a six-time career recipient with three distinctions in 2022 as well.
