  • Sophomore Natalie Glenn and graduate student Maggie Walters excelled for Long Beach State despite two losses and two cancellations over the season’s first weekend to each earn a first Big West weekly honor.
  • Glenn and Walters, both newcomers to the No. 14 Beach program, went 2-0 while facing nationally-ranked competition in Los Angeles on Friday. The tandem first put together a three-set victory on the No. 5 court during a narrow 3-2 LBSU loss to No. 6 Grand Canyon, rallying past Jessica Drake and Mackenzie Harris, 19-21, 23-21, 15-11.
  • Back at No. 5 against fourth-ranked two-time defending national champion and host USC later that same day, Glenn and Walters knocked off Delaney Karl and Ashlyn Rasnick-Pope, 21-19, 21-15, to even the contest at 2-2 before it ended in another tight 3-2 loss. LBSU’s Saturday matches against No. 17 Pepperdine and No. 11 California in Malibu were wiped out due to poor weather and court conditions.
  • A Santa Cruz native, Walters is a UCLA graduate transfer, while Glenn came over after competing on the indoor team at Minnesota during the 2021 season. The product of Southlake, Texas, appeared in 18 matches (all starts, 2.60 kills and 2.40 digs per set) for LBSU this past fall.
  • Glenn and Walters make up the third consecutive Long Beach State pair to earn this award going back to the last two weeks of the 2022 season.
