The third-year junior middle blocker put down a season-best seven kills on 10 swings with a solitary error for a career-best attack rate of .600. The Beach pinned the Nittany Lions (6-1) with their first loss of 2023 and extended their own win streak to five matches to begin the season while wrapping up a perfect three-match trip to the East Coast. Alongside the match high in blocks, Torwie added a season-best three digs, one of three LBSU aces, and a set assist, for a season-high 13.0 points. Penn State had taken 21 straight regular-season home contests. Torwie is the second Beach student-athlete to earn Big West Defensive Player of the Week distinction in the early going, joining the previous recipient in fellow junior Mason Briggs. The product of the Balearic Islands in Spain garnered a first such award on April 11, 2022. Torwie joined Clarke Godbold on The Big West’s 2021 All-Freshman Team.
