• UC San Diego sophomore Pelayo Rodriguez clinched two wins for the Tritons to earn The Big West Men's Tennis Player of the Week honor. It is the first weekly honor from the conference for Rodriguez.
• The sophomore clinched the win in a 4-3 triumph against Sacramento State Friday. With the score even, 3-3, Rodriguez came back to win the No. 5 singles match versus Rudolfs Aksenoks, 4-6, 7-5, 6-0.
• With Sunday’s match against Loyola Marymount in a similar situation, tied 3-3, Rodriguez battled for a win at No. 5 singles against Alex Pedro Parra, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4, to clinch a 4-3 victory for the Tritons.
• On Thursday, the Madrid, Spain product got a 6-1 doubles win with partner Phillip Lan defeating David Cortimiglia and Nikola Kuraica of San Francisco.
