• UC Santa Barbara guard Ajay Mitchell averaged 23.5 points, 4.5 assists and 2.5 steals in two wins to begin conference play to earn The Big West Player of the Week honor, presented by Hercules Tires. It is Mitchell's second career weekly honor, having won it once last season.
• Mitchell tallied a game-high 24 points, to go along with three assists and two steals, in a 65-58 road win Thursday night at Cal State Fullerton. The game was nationally televised on ESPN U.
• The sophomore compiled 23 points and six assists, both game bests, leading the Gauchos to an 82-61 triumph over UC San Diego, Saturday inside the Thunderdome.
• On the week, Mitchell shot 59.2 percent (16-of-27) from the floor, 55.6 percent (5-of-9) from behind the arc and 100 percent (10-of-10) from the free throw line.
• The Ans, Belgium product has now scored 20 or more points in four straight contests.
• UC Santa Barbara is currently on a win streak of seven games. The Gauchos are 11-2 overall and 2-0 in Big West play. Mitchell is averaging 16.6 points and 4.6 assists per contest so far this season.
