Jaylen Jordan was stellar for Long Beach State over a pair of five-set victories last weekend, averaging 3.50 kills and 2.60 digs per set while hitting .237 (35-13-93) and producing her first two double-doubles to pick up Big West Freshman of the Week honors.

The redshirt freshman outside hitter out of Tarzana first put down a career-best 22 kills at UC San Diego on Friday night, at a rate of .314 (22-6-51), also adding 13 digs and an assist. The attack, hitting percentage, dig and point (22) totals were also all single-match highs. On Saturday night at home against UC Irvine, Jordan collected 13 more kills to go along with 13 digs, three blocks and another assist.

Jordan has reached double-digit kills in seven of the 10 matches she has appeared in this season, including each of the last five to begin the month of October.

Jordan is a first-time Big West weekly honoree, becoming the Beach’s second freshman winner this season, following fellow redshirt freshman and team setter Zayna Meyer back on Aug. 29 to begin the year.
