Kaytlin Brinkman’s first collegiate brace led Cal State Fullerton to a resounding 4-1 home victory on Thursday night over UC Riverside to earn Big West Offensive Player of the Week honors.

The senior forward scored twice in a stretch of 108 seconds over the first 5:24 of the contest, marking Brinkman’s third and fourth tallies of the 2022 season for a share of the team lead. The game-winner is Brinkman’s career first. Brinkman now has five strikes in a Titan uniform, and seven in her collegiate career.

A product of Antioch who transferred to Cal State Fullerton ahead of the pandemic-canceled 2020 campaign after two years at Saint Mary’s, Brinkman started against the Highlanders, playing 69 minutes and producing a career-high-tying six shots, with three on target. The Titans’ four goals on the night were their single-match high for 2022.

Brinkman is a first-time Big West weekly honoree. Cal State Fullerton (6-4-4, 3-1-1 BW) is tied with Cal Poly for second in the current table at 10 points apiece, just one behind leader Long Beach State, with three weeks to go in the regular season.
