  • True freshman Caylen Alexander produced two performances with double-digit kill totals in two road successes last weekend for Hawai’i to claim Big West Freshman of the Week.

  • The native of Alpharetta, Ga., totaled 23 kills, including six in the first frame (and set point in each) against both Cal State Fullerton on Friday and Long Beach State on Saturday. In the sweep in Fullerton, Alexander put down 10 kills while hitting .350 (10-3-20) with a dig. At the Walter Pyramid, she added 13 kills and three more digs in a 3-1 win.

  • Alexander has appeared in all 12 matches for the Rainbow Wahine so far in 2022, recording 10-plus kills in seven of them. The outside hitter has collected 38 kills over the past three contests alone, hitting at a .365 (38-7-85) clip.

  • A winner of a season-high five in a row, defending champion and preseason favorite Hawai’i (7-5) is tied atop The Big West standings at 4-0 alongside UC Santa Barbara.

  • Alexander now leads all conference rookies with three Big West Freshman of the Week honors over the first six weeks of the season. She has now earned back-to-back distinctions for the first time, with her initial award coming back on Sept. 5.
