  • After a tournament MVP weekend, UC Irvine’s Onye Ofoegbu has been tapped as Big West Offensive Player of the Week. The award is the second of the middle blocker’s career, also earning distinction Sept. 13, 2021. 

  • Ofoegbu averaged 4.11 kills, 1.78 blocks and 5.33 points per set as the Anteaters dispatched a trio of opponents in straight sets at the adidas/UCI Invitational. The Cerritos, Calif., native hit .492 in the nine sets played in the tournament. 

  • Highlighting the weekend, the junior put away a season-high 18 kills on .571 hitting (18-2-28) to go along with five blocks and an ace as UC Irvine handed Dartmouth their first loss of the season.  

  • This is the first time UC Irvine has won its home tournament since its start in 2018.
